Eugene "Stan" S. Thorne, Sr.

THORNE, Eugene S. “Stan”, Sr., 99, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Ring Thorne. He is survived by his children, Kathy Seay (Rob), Stan Thorne, Jr. (Missy); his grandchildren, Cameron Seay (Nicole), Barrett Seay (Virginia), Savannah Thorne, Haley Thorne, and Levi Thorne; and his great-grandchildren, Deklan Seay, Kian Seay, and Nolan Seay; Stan was an Army World War II veteran. He retired from the University of Richmond where he was the Director of Food Service and affectionately called “Dr. Food” by the students. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, perform in chorus, and other activities. Stan was a lifelong University of North Carolina Tar Heels fan. The family is having a private graveside service at Cool Spring Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
