HOTT, Elizabeth “Betty” Lee Smith, widow of Conway Hott, entered heaven on December 1, 2024, at the age of 90. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Cathy Durvin (Hunter), Peggy Yontz (Mike) and Susan Dip (Rick), all of Mechanicsville; seven grandchildren, Christina Robertson (Josh), Maria Fodill (Kenny), Beth Allen (Rob), Chris Dip (Whitney), Johnny Dip (Lauren), Rachel Rosswog (Nick) and Megan Hott ; a bonus granddaughter, Rachel Yontz and ten great-grandchildren. She was the oldest of seven children, Jolly and Leonard predeceased her; surviving siblings are Dorothy Gallimore, Freddy Smith (Judy), Philip Smith (Diane), and Edward Smith. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Audrey Stevens, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She leaves a special roommate who shared her last 2 years’ journey, Audrey Long.
Betty was a 1955 Johnston Willis School of Nursing graduate and retired from Johnston Willis Hospital after 40 years of service. She was a member of Church of the Redeemer Catholic Church. More than anything else, Betty loved God and her family; she was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM, at Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Road, Mechanicsville, VA, 23116 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM. The interment will be at Hanover Memorial Park, 4447 Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, VA 23111 following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Johnston Willis Alumni Scholarship, 1612 Winters Hill Circle, N. Chesterfield, VA 23236 or to Church of the Redeemer Catholic Church. Monaghan Funeral Home will be serving the family.
