HOLLAND, Douglas (Doug), 71, of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 4, 2022 after a year long battle with a progressive form of Parkinson’s Disease. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Evelyn Menard Holland; his mother and father-in-law, Vinny and Nancy Wawrzyniak; his aunts, Fredricka “Tootsie” Burdick (Ned), Avis Marcellus (Dan), and Annette Schulte (Will); his uncles, Bernard “Buster” Holland Jr. (Maude) and Robert Menard; his cousins, Darwin Holland, Richard Holland, Charlie Burdick, John Marcellus, and Sandra Woodall; He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joanne Wawrzyniak Holland; his sons, Scott D. Holland (Trish), FL, and Jason E. Holland, VA; his grandsons, Douglas S. Holland (Susan), and Nicholas D. Holland, FL; his great grandson, Caleb J. Holland, FL; his brothers, John W. (Kay), VA, Patrick H. (Tina), FL, and Michael R. (Sandy), NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Doug graduated from South Lewis High School in the class of 1969. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 1969 until September 1973. Doug worked for Computer Land in Ft Myers, FL, owned and operated Sight & Sound Service in New Hartford, NY and Ft Myers, FL. He then worked for G.E. and Genworth Financial in Richmond, VA as a senior IT systems analyst, from which he retired. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 am at Church of the Redeemer.
