Dorothy Forsyth Stone, 79, of Mechanicsville, died on February 23, 2025, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son, Jeff; daughters, Tracie and Aimie; grandson, Luke; and granddaughter, Bella. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Earle Stone, and her parents, Joseph and Lucille Forsyth. A graduate of Varina High School, Dorothy dedicated 20 years to the Pamunkey Regional Library as a bookmobile driver and librarian, helping the community. She was an active and devoted mother, serving as a Girl Scout Troop leader and creating cherished memories through trips to Kings Dominion, camping adventures at Shenandoah Lake, and visits to Naylor’s Beach. Dorothy had a deep love for bluegrass music and found great joy attending jams and festivals alongside her husband, Earle, and their dear friends. She also loved RV camping, especially when it meant traveling to visit her beloved grandchildren in Florida and Texas. The Atlantic coastline held a special place in her heart—whether visiting the Outer Banks or simply being near the ocean, she found peace in its presence. The Hatteras Lighthouse was particularly meaningful to her, serving as a source of inspiration throughout her life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at the same location from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Dorothy will be laid to rest on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Homes on Wheels Alliance, 1970 N. Leslie Street, Box 297, Pahrump, NV 89060.
