Doris Marie (Wilson) Helmick

HELMICK, Doris Marie born October 25, 1936, in King and Queen County to the late Clyde and Gertrude Wilson, gained her angel wings, November 25, 2022, at 2:20 am, with her children holding her hands. Marie was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Eugene “Bud” Helmick; her loving son, Eugene Larry Helmick; her beautiful great-granddaughter, Madison Carter Helmick; and her younger brother, Stanley W. Wilson. Marie is survived by her two devoted and faithful children, Michael Helmick (Diana), and Diane Rice (Chris); four grandchildren she was so proud of,  Kristie Proctor (Aaron), Matthew Helmick (Monica), Jesse Helmick (fiancé Kelly King) and Chelsea Acree; five beautiful great-grandchildren, Michael, Savannah, Marleigh, Ben, and Emmett; a dedicated cousin, Bill Wilson; and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Marie loved that her children lived next door to her and earlier in life, worked with each of them and her husband in the family business. She enjoyed her game shows, getting all dressed up every day, and taking occasional rides out with her loving caregiver, Donna Harris. But mostly she strived to ensure that her family knew and felt the love she had for each of them. Marie deeply loved and cherished her family. The family will receive friends from 3 – 7 pm, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, December 1, 2022. Interment will follow at Hanover Memorial Park. The family would like to extend their thanks to the team at VCU Palliative Care and Hospice for the extraordinary care their mother received during her transition to Heaven.
