Shortt, Debra “Debbie”, 65 of Mechanicsville / Urbanna, VA, began her everlasting life with the Lord on March 25, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Aaron Wesley Shortt; her grandparents, Phyllis H. Thompson (Mamie) and Joseph C. Thompson, and Hazel H. and Marvin Cole; her mother-in-law, Carolyn Crew and Father-in-law, Wayne (Butch) Shortt; and brother-in-law, Rick Shortt; aunts, Nancy Rainey and Rose Thompson; and her cousin, Butch Crew. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Shortt; her parents, Ruth T. Walton (Jim) and Edward N. Harper (Mary); sister, Sheila Harper; sister-in-law, Kimberlee Shortt; uncles, Ron Harper and Michael Thompson; nieces and nephews, Courtney T. Portwood, Matthew S. McLane, Lindsey Shortt, and Emmett Shortt; and a great-nephew, Landon Portwood. Debbie retired from Proctor-Silex Hamilton Beach after 28 years as a project manager and then worked for Horseley Real Estate in Urbanna for 5 years. She obtained her master’s degree at the age of 50 from Strayer University. Debbie enjoyed fishing and boating on the Rappahannock River. She was a member of the Middlesex County Women’s Club in Urbanna. She loved to travel and shared a love for hockey with her son, Aaron. She was known for throwing functions for her friends and family and for her deep and abiding love of her husband. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 pm, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, where a memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association at support.apdaparkinson.org.
