Hunt, Jr., Clemen “Red” – 77 of Richmond, VA, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemen Hunt, Sr. and Gaynelle and Ed Hendrick; his children, Brian and Melissa Hunt; his sister, Terry Hall; his brother, Tony Hunt; and his stepbrother, Linwood Hendrick. He is survived by his son Ryan Hunt (Linda); daughter, Stephanie Hunt Keller; his brothers, Jerry Hunt and Robbie Hunt (Stacy); half-brother, Paul Hendrick; stepbrothers, Edward and Mark Hendrick. Ryan and Melissa’s mother, Sharon Lea, and his beloved fur baby, Pixie.
Red proudly served his country in the US Army as a Private First Class for two years, during the Vietnam era. After receiving his honorable discharge from the US Army, Clemen began working at Hendrick Construction Company, owned by his stepfather and his mother. There, he picked up many skilled trades, his favorite being concrete work. In the late 70’s, after the family decided to close the business, most of the family, including him and his wife, Sharon, moved to Florida. It was then that Clemen started his own business, transforming old decking into Chattahoochee rock decking, full of beauty and elegance. He was also later blessed with two more wonderful children, Melissa and Ryan. When he wasn’t running his own business, he played the role of cook in the family restaurant and sometimes delivering flowers for their flower and antique shop. During downtime, he was able to enjoy time on the NASCAR track, cheering on car #90, which his family had a partial ownership in, or fishing at Cape Canaveral. He spent many years in Florida before returning to his hometown of Richmond, VA. Clemen spent his final years enjoying his family and friends until our Lord called him home. He will always be remembered as a loving father and a man who lived life to its fullest, with a great sense of humor. He will always be loved, never forgotten, and forever missed.
The family will receive friends from 11 am – 12 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A Memorial Service will follow at noon, with a reception afterwards at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at Amelia Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the American Cancer Society or your local animal shelter.
