Claudie “Ed” Johnson, 70 of Farmville, VA, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Dorothy Johnson; siblings, Troy, Debbie, James Earl, and Kathy. Ed is survived by his wife, Carlotta; two brothers, Jackie and Ray; a sister, Linda; five children, Christie (Mitch), Bobby (Jackie), Joey (Donna), Jamie (Miriam), and Michael (Raven); fourteen grandchildren, Madison (Mason), Courtney, Lily, Tyler (Randi), Austin (Hope), Emmaleigh, Joey, Aspen (Kyle), Matthew, Makenna, Peyton, Miya, Kyler, Bentley, and Serenity; as well as numerous extended family members that loved him. Ed was a loving husband and father with a generous heart. He loved every occasion that brought family together. He was a long-distance truck driver for 40+ years and loved to travel. He had a fun-loving spirit and a big heart that matched his sense of humor. He was a dedicated family man and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 10 am - 12 pm on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Monaghan Funeral Home; 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12 pm. The family asks that you wear colorful clothing, as Ed disliked dark rainy days. In lieu of flowers, please donate to diabetes research.
