DUNN, Charles Lee, “Buddy” - 85 of Glen Allen, VA went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia Doggett Dunn; his parents, Godwin P. Dunn, Sr., and Mabel Burress Dunn; and a brother, Godwin P. Dunn, Jr. “Sonny”. He is survived by his children, Robin D. Gilbert (Tom) of Mechanicsville, VA and Charles L. Dunn Jr. “Chip” of Short Pump, VA; five grandchildren, Jeremy Wyatt (Dani Brown), Thomas Andrew, and Kayleigh Marie Gilbert; and Kathryn Sydney and Austin Lee Dunn; one great-granddaughter, Raina Brown; his brother, John Dunn; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Dunn; nephews, Richard, Michael, and Cyrus Dunn; nieces, Briana Buck and Genesis de Vries; a special friend, Joanne Velletr; and his fur baby, Peanut. Buddy graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for VDOT for ten years before he went to work with the City of Richmond for 29 years. During his time with the city, he worked as the Project Manager in association with the US Army Corp of Engineers developing the Richmond Flood Control System and the Flood Control System for the City’s Water Filtration plant. He was also in charge of the Combined Sewer overflow tunnel and the Bosher’s Dam fish ladder. Buddy enjoyed reading, playing bridge, Hand & Foot, Phase 10, Spades, and Mexican Train dominoes. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends and his precious pug, “Little Miss Peanut”. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Church of the Epiphany, 8000 Hermitage Rd. Richmond VA 23228. with interment in the Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Bon Secours Hospice House, of Chesterfield.
