Beryl June Vega

VEGA, Beryl June, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 16, 2024. Beryl was born in Norwich, England on June 24, 1933, to Arthur and Gladys Pye.  Her childhood was marked by the bombing of Britain during World War II.  She met her future husband James at the age of 18 in Norwich where he was stationed as a medic with the US Air Force during the Korean War.  James and Beryl were married at the Norwich Cathedral in Norwich, England in 1952 after which they moved to California. Beryl became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1971.  She was a passionate animal lover and enjoyed many hours gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband James.  Beryl is survived by her three children, Dr. Roland Vega (Julie), Rebecca Rivas (Carlos) and Dr. Rhonda Vega (Tami); her sister, Sandra Currie (Ezechial); her two nieces, Caroline and Wendy; her five grandsons, Robert Vega (Liz), Michael Vega (Nichole), Daniel Vega, James Rivas (Hillary), and John Rivas (Enisa).  She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Samantha, Gavinn, Joseph, Dustin, Graeme, Olivia and Margaret; and numerous other nieces and nephews.  Beryl is also survived by her beloved dog, Puggles. Beryl June will be laid to rest with her beloved late husband James at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM on Monday, August 19th, 2024 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111.
