CHUDOBA, Bernard Wagner “Bernie” – 82, Mechanicsville, VA peacefully passed away on April 17, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, and Agnes Chudoba; two brothers, Joseph, and James Chudoba; and his sister, Joyce C. Rakers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothy “Dot” Chudoba; four children, Michael Chudoba (Roni), David Chudoba (Minna), Rebecca Beets, and Gail Prestwood (Brian); seven grandchildren, Rachael, Emma, Sarah, Alex, Jonathan, Jacob, and Matthew; a nephew, and many nieces, and friends. Bernie was a member of the Hanover Ruritan Club for 54 years. He was a long-time member of the Catholic Church of the Redeemer and the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud Hokie and a Civil War buff. Bernie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and loved by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 pm, Monday, April 22, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Catholic Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116, with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held later that afternoon at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Hanover Ruritan Club, PO Box 625
