Barry Waller Obituary

WALLER, Barry Lewis, 74 of Mechanicsville, VA passed away peacefully on August 31st, 2020 at Henrico Doctors hospital surrounded by loved ones.  He is survived by his wife Peggy Brown Waller, his daughters Kathy Waller Putnam (Jeff Putnam) and Karen Waller Land (Jody Land) from a previous marriage, and his granddaughter Cohen Land.  He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Jacqueline McCabe Sale and his father Frank Samuel Waller, Jr. and his stepfather John Minor Sale, Jr.  Born in Richmond, VA, and graduate of Hermitage High School (class of 1965), Barry began working at Northfield Airport in high school, learned to fly and purchased his first airplane at 16. He was a volunteer for Lakeside Rescue Squad for many years. Barry worked for Coca-Cola Company, City of Richmond and State of Virginia prior to over 30 years with Henrico County in Information Technology. Over the years, he enjoyed numerous sailboats and power boats feeding his love of the water with his love of flying.  Barry was a founding member of the Parrothead Club of Richmond.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycles for many years and was a member of the Richmond Corvette Club.  As a member of the Bubba Brothers, Barry was an avid camper and loved all things outdoors.  Barry’s love of the outdoors brought him to his favorite pastime - fishing.  While fishing, he enjoyed time on the water to reflect, relax and spend time with loved ones.  The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 4, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 8 at 2pm at Maplewood Cemetery, Spotswood Trail (Rt. 33), Gordonsville, VA, 22942. Peggy Waller will be hosting a reception after the interment at Provisions Marketplace Table 319 Madison Rd, Orange VA 22960. To commemorate Barry’s life, the family would appreciate flowers or a donation to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
