Barbara Ann (Goodman) Soukup

SOUKUP, Barbara Ann Goodman – 84 of Mechanicsville, VA was called to her heavenly home on Monday, September 2, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hughlett and Ellen Goodman; her former husband, Anthony “Tony” Soukup; her sisters, Evelyn Thomas, and Beverly Gill; her brother, “Red” Goodman; and her daughter-in-law, Kim Soukup. She is survived by her son, Anthony “Toby” Soukup; her daughter, Teri Soukup Kidd (Mike); three grandchildren, Matthew, Bryan (Camille), and Chelsea (Philip); three great-grandchildren, Savannah, Michael, and Natalie; her sister-in-law, Nancy Goodman; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara worked in banking for several years before becoming a bus driver for Henrico County Public Schools, where she served for over thirty years. She enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. Barbara had a heart of gold and would do anything to help others. She was a devout Christian and a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm, Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 with a funeral service to follow at 3 pm. Interment will be at 3:00 pm, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Washington Memorial Park.
