BAILEY Jr., Alvin “Butch” Walter; 73 of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 29, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Coral (Lawyer) and Walter Bailey of Clearfield, PA; two brothers, Glenn Bailey of Hampton, VA and Robert Bailey of Clearfield, PA. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, former Theresa Weaver of Hanover, PA; his son, Alvin Bailey and wife Megan of Locust Grove, VA; two wonderful grandchildren, Cassidy and Harrison Bailey. He is also survived by a sister, Cindy Thompson and husband, William of Munson, PA; plus numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin graduated from Clearfield High School in 1967. He attended Pittsburg University and received a Bachelors Degree in Economics plus a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Penn State University. He was employed by Montgomery County Redevelopment Authority in PA as a relocation officer and later became a coordinator and rehabilitation specialist for Pottstown and Conshohocken. He worked as Director of Community and Economic Development for the city of Topeka, Kansas for about 18 years and then relocated to Virginia to work for the Redevelopment Authority in Richmond. After retirement, he worked part-time for Hertz and BassPro. His interests included racquetball, fishing, hunting, and entering his dogs in “Shoot to Retrieve” trials. He enjoyed his affiliation with a Bird and Dog Club and the NSTRA, National Shoot to Retrieve Association. His one dog, Rex, was a 2x champ. There will be no viewing or funeral after cremation at Monaghan Funeral Home (per his request). His ashes will be placed in a cemetery in PA by his wife, son, and family members.
