William Blackburn Hill

Hill, William Blackburn “Bill”, 78, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord Thursday, April 29, 2021. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Hill, and his brother, Samuel Hill.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Hill; his children Stephen (Cristy) Hill and Kathryn (Clay) Barret; 5 grandchildren, Jarod, Connor, Rachel, Andrew, and Thomas; a sister, Dorothy Lewis; many nieces, a nephew, and so many loving friends. Billy was a member of the Virginia Army National Guard and attained the rank of 2nd lieutenant prior to joining the Virginia State Police where he retired as a sergeant after 35 years of service. He was an active member of Broadus Baptist Church where he loved his Tuesday morning breakfasts at Riverbound Cafe with fellow church members. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many trips to the beach. He was always the life of the party, never met a stranger, and had a contagious laugh. The family will receive friends and family from 4 – 7 pm on May 7, 2021 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, May 8, 2021 at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, 5351 Pole Green Road; Mechanicsville, VA 23116 with interment to follow at Hanover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Broadus Baptist Church.
