Catherine (Mitchell) Edwards

EDWARDS, Catherine M. 81 of Mechanicsville, VA went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry, and Mary Poh Mitchell; and a sister, Mary Alice Lutton. She is survived by her children, Kathy Sauer (Kenny), Michael Edwards (Joyce), Neil Edwards, Regina Royer (David), Daniel Edwards, and Alan Edwards (Ginger); eight grandchildren, Justin, Ashley, Richie, Taylor, Emily, Amanda, Tristan, and Olivia; six great-grandchildren, Grady, Stella, Kathryn, Hazel, Boyd, and Cambree; a brother, Wayne Mitchell (Mary Lou); her special niece and friend, Donna Harris; and the father of her children, John Edwards. Catherine loved Elvis, music, dancing, crocheting, and trips to the beach. She was employed by Davenport Brokerage for 18 years and then spent her time taking care of tons of children. She was Nanny to many and loved all the time she spent with children over the years. She was always kind, loving and generous. She was devoted to her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. She will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends, from 10:30 – 11:30 am, Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111 where a funeral service will be held promptly at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
