Jean L. Wood

WOOD, Jean L. - 82, of Mechanicsville, VA departed this life, Saturday, December 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Chamberlain and mother, Margaret Mathena. Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Benjamin (Tommy) Wood; a son, Anthony Sheets (Shelley); daughters, Lisa Luck (Jeff) (their daughter, Rachel Luck),  and Vivian Wood; 1 other granddaughter; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Grey (Charles), Kay Bearre; brother, Preston Mathena (Kathy); sister-in-law, Bessie Carter (David); brothers-in-law, Henry Wood (Gloria) and David Wood (Donna); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Jean came to Richmond from War, West Virginia. While working at Bill’s BBQ she met the love of her life when she served him a cheeseburger deluxe one night. During their 57 years together, they enjoyed spending their time on the water and fishing, at their river house in Deltaville, VA. Jean retired from Molins Machine Company. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111; where a funeral service will be held, 2 pm, Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Interment will follow at Hanover Memorial Park.
