Alexandria Stuart Wickstead

  WICKSTEAD, Alexandria Stuart; a believer in Jesus Christ, passed away May 28, 2019, in Mechanicsville, VA.   She was preceded in death by John Joseph Wickstead, Jr, her husband of 70 years.  She is survived by her son, John Joseph Wickstead III (Donna); daughters, Sarah Stuart Wickstead Lauher (Norton) and Laura Stuart Wickstead (Brock); ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. World War II and her marriage to John ended her studies at the University of Louisville just one semester short of graduation.  She was a volunteer and board member of the Educational Therapy Center.  She was also a member of the U. S. Figure Skating Association.  For more than twenty years, she and John participated in prison ministry at Powhatan Correctional Center.  Unbeknownst to the guards, she smuggled in pocket New Testaments and marshmallow Peeps at Easter time, a joyful combination.
