Eltora, Victor, passed away peacefully in his home on March 25, 2024, at the age of 77. He was born on August 30, 1946, to Florence and Victor Eltora. He grew up in Jessup, PA, where he met and fell in love with his high school sweetheart Eileen and would have three sons, Mark, Jeff, and Tony. Victor was a U.S. Veteran and served in the Navy as the ship's barber. He taught little league baseball as a young man and was a diehard New York Yankees fan, often taking trips with his sons to old Yankees Stadium to watch them play. Victor and his family moved to the Mechanicsville, VA area in 1985. He had a passion for cooking, gardening, hunting, and fishing for crappie, often giving his day's catch to friends and neighbors. After retiring, he and his wife would enjoy their time together traveling, playing pickleball, and spending the winter months in Florida fishing with friends. Victor was married to Eileen for 55 years and always said “She was the best wife I ever had”; then adding, “She was the only wife I ever had ''. They rarely were apart from each other, often saying “We’re better together”. Eileen wrote it in a poem entitled “Our Story” to emphasize just that, “There was no denying how we felt, and we wanted to make it known, often saying, we’re better together, would be etched on our tombstone”. Victor was preceded in death by his father Victor; mother, Florence; and son Jeffrey. He is survived by his wife Eileen; and his sons, Mark and Tony. He will be greatly missed but the love and kindness he shared will live on in our memories forever. A special thanks to Vic and Eileen's "Best Man", John Andrejko. His friendship and phone calls through the years were priceless. We also can’t forget our Shady Grove pickleball friends. They brightened his day, especially when talking about fishing or the Yankees. We also would like to thank all of his doctors who did their best to prolong his life. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at The Catholic Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, with a reception immediately following. The interment will be at 2:00 pm, at Signal Hill Memorial Park.
