CARPENTER, Christopher, L. “Chris”- 57 of Riegelwood, NC went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annie Mae Fowler, his father, Price E. Carpenter; and his father-in-law, Pat Hall. He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Melissa “Missy” Carpenter; his daughter, Lindsey Carpenter; his mother, Betty Fowler Hinson; a sister, Crystal Cartrette (James); his mother-in-law, Sue Hall; and his niece and nephew, Ella, and Wylie Cartrette. Chris was a “keep it simple” person. He grew up on a tobacco farm in Chadburn, NC. His granddaddy taught him how to build houses, and he learned everything he needed to know after falling off a roof and getting back up. After graduating from high school, his uncle convinced him to move to Richmond, VA where he learned power line work. Chris loved his job, and he did it well for over 39 years. He was most recently employed as Director of Operations for Infratech. He obtained his CULCP degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was a simple man who loved the Lord. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Chadburn, NC. He enjoyed fishing and late model dirt track racing. Chris was well loved and respected by his coworkers and was known as “everyone’s guy”. He was always looking out for his crew and there to lend a hand to anyone who was in need. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, Friday, April 5, 2024, at Antioch Baptist Church, 3868 Antioch Church Rd., Sandston, VA 23150, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
