BAILEY, Sr., Charles Fredrick 80, of Mechanicsville, peacefully passed away on April 3, 2024. He was born August 30, 1943, in Sandstone, WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, William, and Lillian Bailey; his first wife and high school sweetheart, Mary Jean; their son, Charles “Rick” Bailey Jr., his wife of 33 years, Rogina “Gina” Bailey; and his siblings, William “Howard” Bailey, and Lois Cales. Fred leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by his sons, Mike Bailey (Debbie), Kevin Bailey (Pamela), Kyle Bailey (Katey), grandchildren; Patrick (Pauline), Kelly (Johnathan), J.B., Kody, Seth, Scarlett, Tessa, Jaycen, and one arriving soon; great-grandchildren, Ford, Colten, and Riley; siblings, Phyllis Gwinn and Erma Adkins; brother-in-law, Grady Matthews; and special friends, Lisa and Charles Bandy. Fred was a dedicated worker, spending 36 years as a proud member of CSX Railroad and active in the Union. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own successful landscaping business and later venture into the towing industry. In his leisure time, he enjoyed creating memories at BethPage Campground, casting his line fishing, and cheering on the Redskins football team and UVA basketball. He was a proud member of Compass Christian Church. Fred will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and legacy of love will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace. The family will receive friends from 2 – 5 pm Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home; 7300 Creighton Pkwy, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, April 8, 2024, at Monaghan Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Hanover Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Hanover Humane Society or Compass Christian Church.
